Every category
in one pass.
After the eddy current separator, what is left of a non-ferrous fraction is the difficult part: pieces of similar size and weight, mixed, and worth very different prices. Matvision Grade splits them family by family and, with LIBS, alloy by alloy.

The stream
What the eddy current
hands over.
An eddy current separator throws the non-ferrous metals off the belt; it does not tell them apart. An optical sorter placed after it often takes the bulk of the aluminium. What arrives at our line is the residue of both operations, and no single physical property separates it any further.

| Stream | Where it comes from | What is left in it |
|---|---|---|
| Zorba | Eddy current output after shredding, with or without a prior optical stage | Copper, zinc, lead, brass, stainless, nickel-plated pieces, residual aluminium |
| Zurik | Induction sorting on the residue of the eddy current | Stainless, copper-bearing pieces, insulated cable, heavy alloys |
| Production scrap | Offcuts, rejects and process losses from a plant’s own production | A known set of alloys in unknown proportions |
| IBA non-ferrous | Incinerator bottom ash, after screening and eddy current | Several families at once, plus what a refiner will not pay for |
What we separate
Nine outputs where
an optical sorter gives two.
Each piece is measured on volume, colour and density, and with LIBS on its elemental composition. The model gives it a class, and a robot places it in the output where it is worth the most. Nine saleable outputs, plus one reject for the unwanted items.
Output
What separates it
Copper
Colour, density, elemental composition
Brass
Colour, density, elemental composition
Aluminium, cast
Density and composition; cast against wrought needs LIBS
Aluminium, wrought by series
LIBS: 1000 to 7000 series
Zinc
Density and X-ray transmission
Lead
X-ray transmission; often a contaminant rather than a product
Stainless, by grade
LIBS: typically 304 against 316
Nickel-plated pieces
Surface against internal structure
Printed circuit boards
Colour camera and 3D profile
Unwanted items
Wood, plastics, rubber, mixed materials and other non-metallics
The line
Five to twelve robots,
one output per category.
Sensing core
Matvision Sense: 3D, colour and X-ray transmission as the base. LIBS as soon as the value sits inside a family rather than between families.
Robots
Five to twelve, following how many categories the stream is worth splitting into and how dense each of them is.
Ejection
Robotic picking, one output per category, with pneumatic ejection where a class only needs removing.
Machines
The machine for this stream.
Refine removes what does not belong. Grade separates everything that has value.

What a performance study measures
Your material, your numbers.
How far it is worth sorting is an economic question before it is a technical one. We measure the composition of your fraction, then set the precision between purity and recovery with you, according to what you sell and at what price. Every share on this page is replaced by the one measured on your material.
