A Fast Start to 2026 for Matvision

2026 has started at full speed for Matvision. With so much happening across our commercial, technical, and team development fronts, it felt like the right time to launch a new communication format: a more retrospective newsletter to keep our community informed about the progress of our project.

This first edition covers several key developments from the start of the year — from industrial execution and funding to recruitment and industry visibility.

With strong momentum across commercial activity, technical execution, funding, and team growth, 2026 is shaping up to be a defining year for Matvision. Here is a look at what has been happening.

Sorting Through a Fast Start

The beginning of the year has been marked by strong momentum on several fronts. On the industrial side, the sale of one of our machines for the scrap sector has kept us fully engaged. This project has involved close work on defining the client’s operational needs, designing the integration layout for the site, and coordinating with suppliers throughout the process.

We will share a more detailed post soon on how we approach the design of our machines — from requirement definition to system integration.

In parallel, we are proud to announce that Matvision has secured €500,000 in funding through EIT RawMaterials. This funding will support our commercial development while also giving us access to the highly specialized industrial network of EIT RawMaterials.

We are also pleased to share that Nicolas Menou will be supporting the next phase of our development through this program. This is an important step for us — not only because of the funding itself, but because of the strategic connections and sector expertise that come with it.

Strengthening the Team Behind the Vision

The Matvision team is growing. We are welcoming two software engineers from the University of Liège, profiles we already know well and who bring strong expertise in their respective fields. They will reinforce key capabilities in:

  • AI-driven sensor data processing
  • Sensor integration and deployment
  • Real-time software systems for sensor data analysis

Their arrival strengthens one of the core pillars of Matvision: building robust, high-performance industrial intelligence systems that turn sensor data into operational value.

Strong Momentum on the Ground

Over the past few weeks, Matvision has also been visible across several initiatives and events.

We had the pleasure of supporting a group of students from HELMo, who travelled to Warsaw to represent Matvision and explore the development of the Polish market. They did a remarkable job, and we want to sincerely thank Justine, Emmeline, Esthel, and Melvin for their work and commitment.

On the events side, Thibault presented at Liège Creative, where he shared how multi-sensor sorting can support aircraft recycling. I also had the opportunity to present Matvision’s technology at TEAM2 during a seminar focused on steel purification and battery sorting.

These opportunities matter because they allow us to engage directly with industrial stakeholders, test the relevance of our positioning, and contribute to the broader conversation around recycling automation and circular industrial systems.

Continuous Innovation

We are committed to continuously unlocking technological advancements by transferring high TRL (Technology Readiness Level) R&D results from the GeMMe Laboratory at the University of Liège. GeMMe is actively involved in research projects with both local and European key innovators, constantly integrating new sensors and developing advanced AI to process increasingly complex waste streams. As a spin-off from GeMMe, we are dedicated to bringing these technological innovations to the market, leveraging our strong connection with the lab as a significant competitive advantage. This ongoing collaboration ensures that we remain at the forefront of technological advancements, maintaining our edge in the industry.

Why This Matters

The recent developments at Matvision point to one clear reality: things are moving fast. We are scaling our activity across technical execution, commercial development, ecosystem partnerships, and team capabilities. That combination is what will define the next stage of our growth.

This update is only a snapshot, but it reflects a period of real acceleration for the company. And the months ahead will bring even more movement.
